Comfortable 3-hour flight from Athens to Amsterdam on KLM's nonstop Boeing 737 yielded a couple nice pictures.

Arsenal 2, Barcelona 1

Best game of the year, better than any game in the World Cup?  Unquestioned #1 in the world Barcelona against maybe #5 Arsenal of London, Champion's League round of 16 (basically leading to the Super Bowl of European football, with Barcelona the defending champion).  I watched this one starting at 10 pm in my Athens hotel room on a Spanish channel.

Barcelona looked in control at Arsenal's London stadium 'The Emirates' and took a 1-0 lead on a deft pass from Lionel Messi to David Villa, and held that 1-0 lead into the middle of the 2nd half and pulled Villa for a defensive substitute.

Suddenly, Dutchman Robin Van Persie blasted in a shot from an incredible angle to tie the game, and barely 5 minutes later despite frantic Barcelona pressure, Arsenal counter-attacked the length of the field and Russian Andre Arshavin blasted in a shot from the left for the 2-1 Arsenal win.

Arsenal beat Barcelona last year at this stage ... then traveled to the Camp Nou in Barcelona and were destroyed as Messi (the world's #1 player) scored 4 goals.in a blowout.

My hosts picked me up at the airport and stopped at a little waterfront cafe on the Bosphorus for coffee.  Beautiful day!

Back to Istanbul and Athens

Waiting at Schiphol for the nonstop to Istanbul, a few days there, then a weekend in Athens before teaching there next week and flying home next Thursday.

Game day at Jerry Jones' gargantuan Temple O' Football.  Packers/Steelers, I guess I have to go with conference loyalty here and back the Pack, but my gut tells me the Steelers will take this one.
